Fishing Report (July 15)
DRY FLY SEASON HAS ARRIVED!!!!
LOGAN RIVER
The upper section of the Logan opened last Saturday to some excellent fishing! The water levels are only slightly above normal, so wading is much easier than it was a couple of weeks ago. Fish are active in virtually all stretches of the river. Some fun Caddis activity and smaller PMD patterns have resulted in surface feeding activity. A Royal Wulff pattern proved irresistable yesterday!
And the terrestrials are out. We've seen fish taken on Cicadas, hoppers, beetles, and ants.
BLACKSMITH FORK RIVER
The Blacksmith Fork is doing extremely well with the same array of patterns that are working on the Logan--with one notable difference: the water is lower on the Blacksmith Fork. So wading is easier and getting those dry flies on the water is producing lots of fish. Try PMDs, Caddis, Hoppers, Beetles, Cicadas along with attractor patterns! Tie on a Purple Haze for some fun! And think about using a nymph as a dropper to increase your odds--copper johns, pheasant tails, hares ears, etc.
If you see too many people on the river, head up one of the incredible feeder streams on either river; Right Hand Fork, Temple Fork, and Left Hand Fork have all been fishing well!
Tight Lines!
