Midge Fishing Flies

Sometimes the best gifts come in small packages. Midge flies mimic the most common and abundant food source for trout. Even though midges are the smallest insect family that trout feed on, they occur in very large numbers. On some rivers, midges will outnumber mayflies 100 to 1. Midges are also the most hardy of aquatic insects, hatching virtually year-around in wide temperature ranges. So don't overlook this tiny fly pattern--it can be a great fly pattern, especially during colder months.
